::Flowers of Sweet Salvage ~ December::

How was everybody's Christmas? We had a lovely day spending time with the family.  It really doesn't get much better than that :0)

Sooo, who went to Sweet Salvage this month? There was so many must haves and did I mention FREE items!!  Yep, free!  I believe there were over a thousand free items to be found! All the free items had green stickers on them telling you to go ahead and take them home! Did you find one?

That green crate above and both red meters were free!! I was soooo wishing I could play ;0)

All the other items in the store were marked down, like way down! Ornate frames 10-20 bucks, huge wooden lanterns $5, Large shutters for $8 and lots more!

This month was a blast for me! I love the whole idea of being able to give back to our customers. When the team of Sweet Salvage came up with this fantastic way to say thank you to you all a couple of years ago, I was in!

These all below were either discounted at half off or free :0)

And here was some of the new designs!

And more boot socks!! I will be making these until February, they usually sale out within the first hour so get them while you can ;0)

See ya next year!

::Throwing In The Towel::

Oh my stars!!  I've been so crazy busy this holiday season. Lots of building, sewing and a TON of painting!  I had so many projects to show you all, maybe 20 or so?!  Being in rush before a big show, I forgot to take all the finished pictures...That would have been about a half a years worth of post for me, eheheh!

I recently found this sweet little telephone table. It was just the right size for a color pop of furniture accessory.  You know, like when you add that colorful necklace to your black dress to make your outfit come to life.  That's what I was hoping someone would do to a room, with this little guy!

First thing, was to take it all apart and clean it up (she looks a little dusty, right?). I also had to cut a small piece of wood for the back that was missing.

Now was time for paint!  Here in AZ, it's been cold enough to make the the trees change a little and I have been loving all the beautiful orange in the trees, so orange it is!

Okay, did you notice all the clumps? I'm DONE with making my own chalk paint!  In over the last 6 months or so, I have been using the "real chalk paint" only.  After you use the real stuff for so long and you try to go back...There is just no way!!!
Seriously look at this!! It took me forever and a day to get those clumps off and not to mention the coverage is not that great either.  In my opinion there is just not enough savings in making your own chalk paint to deal with all the sanding you'll have to do.

After it was all sanded, I added some lace painting. This is so easy and fun! You just put your lace on where you want it and spray paint over it!

Here it is, I'm loving that lace look!

::Flowers of Sweet Salvage ~ November::

Are you ready to get all your Christmas decorations up?  Our family waits until after Thanksgiving but after doing Tis' the Season with Sweet Salvage  I want to set up NOW!!

Sweet was filled with such dazzling Christmas decor! Traditional, pastels, sliver or gold it does not matter how you decorate for the holidays, because they had it all!

This month, I was excited to not only have my hair accessory's but some furniture and signs too!! It was such a blast!

I knew we were keeping the boutique area with a softer pallet but there was a couple of times I could not help myself and added some color! When you are busting with color, it's hard to hold a girl back ;0)

Okay, how can you even look at my hair pins when it's next to all this beauty from Grace Abounding!?

Yay for cold weather! Boot socks and winter wraps are back!!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

::Flowers of Sweet Salvage ~ October::

Hey all!  I have been so busy getting ready for the season, that I have neglected my blog.  Unfortunately, I don't think that will change until after Junk In The Trunk

This month at Sweet Salvage was the much anticipated French Market Event! It was FULL of fantastic french items. Just look at this...Bella, Bella!!

And most importantly, my most favorite things ever, OLIVE  BUCKETS!!! I dream of them, really.

I want one soooo bad! Could you imagine all the terrificness you could do with them? Don't you just want one too? I could even use them to transport my hair flowers around in ;0)

Hair accessories for the French Market were done in lots of soft colors with sprinkles of black!  When I sat down to design this month, I thought of things that reminded me of Paris.

You can not help but add in Eiffel Tower with this theme!

Hat's are a must for traveling.  Don't you think?

 AU Revoir!

::Chalkboard Love::

SO in love with chalkboards!! Not sure if it's because I make about 20 a month or my teaching background, but I really can't get enough of them. Crafty Hubby and I won this baby at an auction and I could see chalkboard potential.

Noticed all the sanding?  I had to take off layers and layers of polyurethane.  The people before us really LOVED the stuff, so much that they decided to cover the handles and inside too :0)

After we replace one of the drawers, I was ready to get my paint on!

That is one pretty look'n nail if you ask me, eheheheh!

After placing it back together, I decided to salvage the handles.  I normally never do but I liked these!?  Then I played with chalk! It was so much fun, I was in label heaven!!

This would be great for a craft room too!  You could write ribbon, stickers, paint, etc.... I mean who doesn't like to label, right?!

Now the before and after shot! Not to bad!!

::Flowers of Sweet Salvage ~ September::

What a spooktacular month at Sweet Salvage! I absolutely adore the holidays and look forward each year to this event. It's kinda my staring point to all the holiday excitement.

Sweet was FULL of classy, yet creepy treasures this month! I thought my collection of dolls was big, HA! They put me to shame!

Those horse heads were amazing...

And this couch!!!  I dream of it.

Making hair accessories this month was a blast! I did lots of whimsical fascinators.

A bunch of creepy ones too!

Then I threw in a dash of traditional Halloween and fall.

Between this lovely weather and this show, I'm ready for fall to began!

::Rose Bowl Fun::

Recently, Mrs. Blue House and I went to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California!! OH MY STARS, it was like Junker's Disneyland! Before, I show you all the great junk, let me show you how beautiful the town of Pasadena is. It's full of green trees and architectural loveliness!

We were so excited to head out first thing in the morning!  We arrived just before it opened and got our tickets!  I was thinking I might be the only crazy lady taking pictures but there was a bunch of us :0) Thank goodness they had an ATM, we were so excited we forgot to get cash. After getting our money we were ready to get our junk on!

It was pure vintage bliss! When we first walked to the the vintage section there was rows and rows of vintage clothing from every era. This was one of my favorite clothing booths. It was FULL of crinoline, lace, and sparkles!! Uhm, need I say more?

Now to the good stuff! There was rows and rows of salvage, vintage everything, oddities and more. Here is just a small glimpse of what the Rose Bowl Flea market has to offers.

Look at all this stuff!! Just amazing, right!?

A bowl of eyes? Yes please!

Okay so now this is where I burst your excitement. Though we absolutely had a blast... The prices were generally steep, BOO!  Take this for example, this small salvage tool box was priced $125 for a set. I see these all day long for half that price. The drawer pulls from above were $10-$40 each, ouch!

Would we go back? You betcha!  Really, it's a great experience and a fun getaway. Plus, you just never know what treasures there will be next time around.

Have you been to the Rose Bowl? I would love to hear about your experience :0)
