::Our Trip To Bisbee::

About a month ago, Crafty Hubby and I set off for a mini getaway.  I have always wanted to go to Bisbee, Arizona.  Being that we are both native Arizonans. . .I am not sure why we did not go sooner.  I absolutely love this town!!  I fell in love with the history, weather, architecture and the people!!  Yep, I pretty much found where we are going to retire.  Here's a look at what we did!

This was the main street!  Isn't it so cute?  The arrow is where our room was, it was such a great view and the hotel was AMAZING!!

The owner of the hotel was the nicest person ever!!  I think I could have talked to her all day, for sure a keeper!

There was a ton of antique stores and the prices were all really good! In this picture, I'm trying to get a iron vintage bird house....FAIL!! We could not agree on a price :0( He had it in the 50% off section, until I wanted it! Ehhehe

We really enjoyed all the restaurants, coffee houses and bars.  Not one bad meal to be had and boy did I eat.  My favorite place was the Stock Exchange Saloon.  Local musicians played for open night mic and they were all so good! This one guy (colincantrell@gmail.com) was so amazing with his acoustic guitar that we asked if he had a CD do they still make those?  He was great, went home and brought us back one.  Thanks Colin!

One of the best parts of the trips was the mine tour.  If you are gonna visit Bisbee this is a must!

It was a great trip! Thanks to Granny for staying with our kiddo's. We get to do this once a year and boy do we look forward to our little getaways!

Do you know any cool little towns we should visit next year?

::DIY - Vintage Wall Paper::

Have you seen this?

This picture has been everywhere lately and it is just sooo gorgeous!!  I looked high and low for vintage wallpaper, with no luck.  When I did find it, it was a ton of money or it was UGG-LY! That's when I thought... What about scrapbook paper?  Lucky for me, I have a great scrapbook store close to home.  Are you ready to try this yourself?
Here's what you'll need:

* Any piece of furniture you want to use.
* Scrapbook paper of your choice.
* Scissors or a paper cutter.
* Sponge brush.
* Collage Pauge
* Hand sander with 120 sand paper

Find the piece of furniture that you are going to use. I chose a coffee table that needed a bit of love.

After you have your piece of furniture how you want it, start to lay out your paper.  Then, cut it to fit the area your wanting to put the "vintage wallpaper."

Now that you have the paper where you want it - start collage paugeing the BACK of the paper and place it where it belongs on your furniture. After all your paper is in place, collage pauge the top. If there is bubbles, wet your fingers and work them out from the middle of each paper. If you are using the Aleene's Collage Pauge, you should not have very many bubbles.  It's just that good ;0)

At this point, I waited a day to do the next best part!  SAND IT like you mean it!  Really, go to town! The more you sand it the older it will look.

Here is what it looked like after. I wanted mine to have that classy old look.

Now your done!  Sit back and enjoy your one of a kind beautie, I certainly did :0)

Here's another picture of the front. Aren't you in love with that tiny drawer?

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial!  If you try it, I would love to see your masterpiece!

::Family Subway Dresser::

I just adore the look of subway art!  After seeing this amazing dresser from Lindaure Designs, I knew this was something I would like to do.  I completed these pieces last year, and held on to the pictures to show y'all.  Good thing is: I was thinking ahead.  Bad thing is: The pictures are not so great.
We purchased this whole set at Goodwill.  As soon as I laid my eyes on it, I knew just what to do with it.

I loved this set.  I am pretty sure that I had this exact one when I was a little girl.  These pieces needed a little cleaning and repairs, but all-in-all they were a great find for only $30!  Whew Whoo, I was one happy gal :0)

I painted them black and went to town with the lettering on the dresser.  I decided to make it a family theme.  I pictured it being in a guest room or front entry way.

Here they are ALL done.  It was a lot of fun making them.

Here is a before and after shot.  What'cha think, are you into the subway look?

::I Found MY Dream Candle::

I was a faithful Gold Canyon girl for quite sometime.  There was nothing better out there for ME.  Gold Canyon Candles have a super strong fragrance that is quite wonderful.  It became increasing hard to find GCC representatives.  Let's face it, it's not awesome when you can't just pick one up while you are shopping out-n-about.

For a short while I moved on to store bought candles.  Which, just didn't work for me.  Then, I discovered the candles at Bath & Body Works.  They smelled super great!  These candles were (almost) just as strong as GCC.  When they go on SALE -- 2 for $22 they are  a hands down great candle.  The only problem is I burn right through them, in what feels like two days, ugh!  I was even only lighting them when visitors came over.  AND I still burned right through them. . .that just stinks!!  Like really, stinks.

Finally, I found Bridgewater Candles and all my candle dreams came true.  First of all, they are soy based.  If you have never burned soy candles here is a quick run down:  They are a clean burn.  Which means soy candles have more of a white soot.  But yes, it does still have soot.  Soy candles burn three times longer.  They hold a stronger fragrance.  Soy candles are crafted from soy beans, which supports American Farmers. BANG! Bridgewater Candles are all made in the U.S.A. Each wick is 100% cotton, making these soy candles even more environmentally friendly.  My crunchy self just loves that!!

I personally paid around $14 for a 8.8 oz that has a burn time up to 85 hours!  The smell pretties up my WHOLE house, yay!!  Next time you are looking to  purchase a new candle give them a try.  I promise you will love them!  So...

To purchase these, stop by Blue House Boutique in Historic Downtown Glendale, AZ.  They have a huge selection and will be more than happy to help you!

I did not receive any compensation or a free gift. This is entirely my opinion only.

::Minty Minty Fresh::

There once was a little table that was so gross Crafty Hubby wanted to throw it away!  For real, it was that bad!  So bad that he refused to take it's picture for me. It was his job to clean this one and he was pretty sure there was something SUPER GROSS on it!!  After his many hours of scrubbing, I got the pleasure of stripping it down to its natural wood.  I actually love doing this!! It’s super fun for me, kind of like. . .popping a zit!  I know, I’m gross. Can you believe I just wrote that?  Anywho, I wanted to try the color mint on something small and I thought this would be great!

Here’s a close up of the grungy goodness!

I needed a picture of it with red, cause you know how I love my red!

I really like how it turned out and I made it just in time for a show!  It got grabbed up right away, yippee!!   BUTTTTT, the lady who bought it told me she was going to repaint it!!!!  DON’T TELL ME THAT!!!   Seriously, I know I’m not Van Gogh but a little piece of my heart broke :0(  I guess I should be thankful it sold?!

Fellow Junkers - I would love her hear your thoughts on this.
Would this bug you?

::School Is Out For’eva::

Most of you know that I have been teaching for a loooong time.  I honestly thought I would be teaching until I was 70!  After a little health bump in 2009 (4 years from this exact date) I decide life is too short, to not live your dreams and working three jobs is just too darn much!!  Slowly I got rid of one job at a time and this year I’m down to one!?

Yep!!  I’m gonna hit this Grungy Galz thing hard.  We are going to take it one year at a time and see how far we can ride this!  I’m already learning so much and there is still so much more to learn.  I’m loving instragram! I like that I can make it more of a personal place!

Pintrest has been very interesting for me.  To be completely honest, I really did not like it!  I’m a crafter and a vendor… So, I was so worried it was going to hurt my little business!!  Now seeing how much business Pintrest has brought me, I feel silly for being a hater!!  Sorry Pintrest :0)  I just started creating my boards and it’s FUN!

And this blog!!  How beautiful is it now, thank you Karen http://www.karenvalentinedesign.com/. So here I am, excited for this new adventure. Hope you don’t get to sick of me!
